Chronology of cameras Birnbaum
This Czech camera was marketed around 1940. On this 24 x 36, you have to extend the lens tube if you want it to function correctly. It uses 35mm film, but with specific cartridges.
Film transport and shutter cocking are not linked. To advance the film once it is exposed, you need to operate a small lever at the back of the camera. It releases the capstan that drives the film (and the frame counter). The shutter does not require prior cocking, and, of course, there is no safety mechanism to prevent multiple exposures.
A coincident rangefinder is present next to the viewfinder. This rangefinder is not coupled; you have to transfer the distance readings to the lens.
This camera was offered with various lens/shutter combinations; the one presented here is equipped with a Perfotar 50mm lens with an aperture of f/2.5.
